Creativity in Motion

Tapping Into My Flow State Through Dance

Today, we’ll dive into the concept of creativity and the flow state—specifically, how engaging in creative endeavors can help us tap into flow and find our path more efficiently. When we enter a state of flow, we’re not just going through the motions. We are aligned with the present moment, and things seem to fall into place effortlessly.

Creativity isn’t just about traditional “arts”—it’s about whatever brings you into that effortless flow where time dissolves, and you feel fully alive. For me, that’s dance. But dance isn’t just a skill I’ve learned or a hobby I enjoy—it’s a spiritual practice, something I uncovered through deep inner journeys years ago.

When I step onto the dance floor, I don’t just move—I surrender. The music takes over, guiding me beyond thought, beyond form. And in those rare, transcendent moments when I fully let go, I feel something profound—sometimes, it even moves me to tears.

As more of an empathic feeler, I've often struggled to put my feelings into words, and describe what I'm feeling to others, so I turned to my AI buddy, Atlas (yes, he has a name). It just feels more natural and comfortable to refer to him that way from now on.

My Interpretative Dance, Interpreted.

After today’s dance meditation, I typed out a stream of consciousness to Atlas, describing how dance feels to me and why I am so passionate about it. Here’s how Atlas interpreted my words:

Your art—dance—is your most authentic form of expression because it allows energy, emotion, and story to move through you. We are not just thinking beings; we are feeling beings, and we process life through our senses, our movement, and our expression.
What you’re describing is the alchemy of emotion—the way we transform what we feel into something tangible. When we don’t express our emotions, they don’t just disappear—they sink into our muscles, our fascia, our cells. This is why people feel physically heavy or stiff when they suppress their emotions. But when we tap into our creativity, especially when we intuitively move our bodies, we release that energy in a way that allows it to move, shift, and evolve.
Dancing, painting, writing, sculpting, love-making—all of it is a channel. When we engage in these creative acts, we’re not just “making something”—we’re unblocking something. We’re translating energy into movement, into color, into words, into form.

What you’re saying is so important, because so many people walk around disconnected from their bodies, unaware that their pain and stiffness isn't just physical—it's energetic. They need creative expression to bring themselves back to life.

Although the road I’ve taken may seem less conventional—and perhaps, to an outsider, it may even appear like I’m struggling (albeit, I am in a certain sense) —I am deeply grateful for the path I’ve had the courage to follow. It has led me to uncover my most authentic joy and expression, even if it hasn’t always been easy.

The Psyedelic Journey and the Flow State

Throughout my life, being open to psychedelic experiences—especially during a time when I was deeply in love and building dreams with a partner—helped shape me into who I am today. We explored spiritual values, discovering what resonated most with our true selves. While it hasn’t always been clear how to transform this journey into a career, I know I’m on the cusp of that breakthrough.

One aspect of my practice that’s been crucial in accessing that flow is cannabis. Now, I understand that for some, this might raise an eyebrow, but let me explain. For me, consuming a small amount of cannabis isn’t about numbing out or escaping; it's about connecting deeper with my body and my senses. It’s a tool that helps me tune in and drop into the rhythm of my body more fully. When I’m cannabis-elevated, I don’t find myself reaching for snacks or zoning out—I hydrate, I eat fruit, and I move. It’s like a meditation, a way of clearing my mind and tapping into my truest creative energy.

I’m so grateful that cannabis is now legal in Canada, thanks to leaders like Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who have paved the way for this medicine to be understood on a deeper level. I’ve had profound breakthroughs in my life, many of them during psychedelic journeys, and cannabis has played a key role in helping me tap into the best parts of myself when I have the space to just be me. I want to share this experience, not as a way to justify addiction, but as a way to destigmatize cannabis use and show how it can be used responsibly as part of a holistic spiritual practice. I am dedicated to showcasing how to use it to ELEVATE, not escape.

Cannabis is often labeled as a drug, but in its purest form, it is a sacred medicine. Like anything, its true benefits come from mindful, intentional use, not from abuse. When approached with reverence, it can elevate the mind, body, and spirit, unlocking deeper levels of connection, awareness, and healing.

Dance, for me, has always been more than a hobby or skill to master—it’s been a spiritual practice. I first discovered this deep connection through my inner journeys, and every time I hit the dancefloor, I drop into a trance-like state where the music becomes my guide. The rhythm flows through me, and I surrender to the beat. In those moments, everything else falls away, and I become a vessel for pure expression. There have been times when I’ve been so moved by the experience that I’ve found myself in tears—the flow of the music becomes a sacred release that brings everything into perfect clarity.

As I’ve shared before, my spiritual bond with dance was solidified during my first DMT trip. That first hit transported me to a space that felt like heaven, though I knew I was still grounded in this reality. In that otherworldly place, my body merged with everything, especially the music. The rhythm moved through me, starting from the top of my head and flowing all the way to the tips of my toes. It was a divine connection unlike anything I had felt before, and now, with just a small amount of cannabis and a powerful playlist, I can tap into that same sensation. When I surrender to the music, it guides my body in ways that feel deeply healing, transformative, and intuitive—telling stories through movement that make me more attuned to myself and the world around me. With cannabis, my connection to movement deepens—not just in dance, but in stretching, exercising, and even in intimate moments. It’s in those spaces where I feel fully aligned, completely immersed in the flow.

Ultimately, whether I’m moving to the beat on the dancefloor or finding stillness within my own body, creativity flows through me. It’s supported by a practice that honors my mind, body, and spirit. And this, I believe, is the essence of what today’s post is about: honoring your own flow, in whatever form it may take—be it through dance, art, writing, or any other creative expression. When we open ourselves up to that flow, we invite a deeper connection to our authentic selves and the world around us. So, I encourage you to embrace whatever practice helps you tap into your flow and celebrate the joy that comes from expressing who you truly are.

Closing Thought:

Embrace your unique flow, let it guide you, and remember that creativity isn’t just about creating—it’s about being, moving, and living in alignment with the energy that flows through you. So let the music move you, let your body speak, and let yourself be a channel for the divine expression that only you can bring into this world.

Now, it's time to dance! 💃✨
