How can I go from Dancing alone, to Dancing with EVERYONE? :)
As human beings, our bodies are the vessels through which we process and express our emotions. Every feeling we experience has the potential to move through us, transforming into creativity, connection, and vitality. However, when we suppress these emotions—whether from fear, societal expectations, or the pressure to conform—they don’t disappear. Instead, they become trapped within, hardening our bodies and spirits, leaving us stiff like rocks.
This often happens when we force ourselves into lifestyles that, while seemingly logical or practical, clash with our deeper, intuitive selves. Over time, these unprocessed emotions manifest as physical tension, dis-ease, depression, and imbalance. They weigh us down, pulling us further from the flow of life and the vibrant energy we are meant to embody.
But here’s the truth: our bodies hold the wisdom to release this energy. Through movement, self-expression, and reconnecting with our innate rhythm, we can unlock these emotions and transform them into vibrant, living energy.
In the first JEMM of the Muse Series, we dive deep into the profound power of intuition—the inner voice that guides us toward authenticity and purpose. By reconnecting with this innate channel, you unlock a wellspring of creative energy, becoming a co-creator of the world around you through innovation and inspiration. This second JEMM of the Muse series is all about honouring the creativity within you - to find out the creative outlet that speaks to you the strongest, and to use that in order to express the emotions that are within you.
When you tap into this intuitive flow state, your unique genius begins to shine. Creativity becomes effortless, a dance of energy between your inner self and the outer world. As you nurture the Lover within—the part of you that leads with passion and care—your creations naturally transform into labors of love. They radiate beauty, authenticity, and meaning, leaving a lasting imprint on the world.
This is not to say that your art or creations must always come from a place of happiness. In fact, some of the most powerful and moving works of creativity—whether writing, music, painting, or dance—are born from pain. Creative expression allows the artist to alchemize raw, intense emotions into something profoundly beautiful. When approached with authenticity and vulnerability, this process resonates deeply, drawing others who connect with that energy.

When we are drawn to a particular piece of art, music, or writing, we don’t just see or hear the artist’s experience—we interpret it through our own lens. It touches us in ways that reflect our needs in that moment, offering solace, inspiration, or understanding. That is the transformative power of creativity.
Honouring Your Inner Muse
To honor your inner Muse, start by identifying the creative outlet that resonates most deeply with you. This is the form of expression where your soul feels free, alive, and authentic. If you’re unsure what that might be, think back to your childhood. What activities made you lose track of time? What brought you pure joy without the need for validation? These early passions often hold clues to your authentic creative voice, untouched by the expectations and constraints of adulthood.
Exploring your childhood joys isn’t just a nostalgic exercise; it’s a way to reconnect with the most uninhibited version of yourself. Whether it was painting, singing, writing, building, or simply daydreaming, those moments are a compass guiding you back to your true essence. By rediscovering these passions, you open the door to a creative flow that is uniquely yours, allowing your Muse to thrive.
Ever since I was a litte girl, I remember begging my mom to enroll me into dance lessons. Every year I would fill out the form for the beginner Jazz class, hunt for shoes and outfits (no easy task without Google back then), and then I would excitedly present it all to my mom. And every year, she would smile at me, put the application in the trash, and enroll me in piano lessons. True story. To her, piano lessons were a much better investment because in her mind, it would lead to better career opportunities. Looking back, I fully appreciate learning how to play this instrument. From an early age, through these lessons, I was introduced to classical music, I was taught to read and interpret sheet music, and I developed my musicality and memory. But at the time, I HATED piano lessons. And because of that, I don't think I was as good as I could've been if I actually wanted to take these classes rather than feeling forced to do it. All I wanted to do was dance. I don't even think I was a great dancer when I was a kid, but I remember listening to music and just vibing! And I felt so alive when I did!
In third grade, my class organized a talent show. I prepared a solo dance to do in front of everyone - I prepared by freestyle dancing to a particular song every day until the day of the show. I felt so alive every time I practiced, letting the music guide me, feeling the music and my own emotions coming through me with every step. By the day of the show, I was bursting with excitement, clutching my cassette tape in my nervous little hands. Before my performance, four of the more popular girls came in with matching outfits, a prop car that their parents helped build with cardboard, and a completely choreographed dance. As I watched this, I felt defeated - I didn't have any choreography, I didn't take any dance lessons, I didn't have any props. After their performance, after all the cheers, applause and howls from the class, the teacher announced that it was my turn to perform. I remember that feeling - my heart felt like it was crushed on the ground, and all the excitement that I initially felt turned into anxiety and inadequecy. I told her I wasn't feeling well anymore, and couldn't perform. I felt silly and unprepared, and I think I stopped wanting to dance at that point.
After that, I didn't really dance until much later in life. And although this may seem sad in retrospect, looking back on my life, it's exactly what needed to happen in order for me to be able to tell this story. When I rediscovered dance years later, it wasn’t about performance or applause—it was about healing and empowerment. Dance became my way to reconnect with myself, to release emotions I had locked away for years, and to breathe life back into my soul. This transformation is what I hope to share with others—the idea that movement can be a source of renewal, joy, and self-expression.
Tapping into the Flow State Through Dance
The moral of this story is that creative expression isn’t just for professional artists—it’s a vital part of being human. Professional artists, musicians, dancers, and writers dedicate themselves to mastering their craft because it’s their dharma, their life’s purpose. Their creations inspire us, not to emulate them, but to awaken and embrace our own unique creative spark.
I think as children, we are naturally drawn to our specific creative path, but unfortunately many of us were not given the opportunity to nurture that side of us. The intention for this particular JEMM, Honour the Muse, is to help participants tap into their creative flow state by shaking off the stagnation in their body, and open up their creative centers, so that they may be guided towards outlets of creative expression that they are gravitated to the most.
As I’ve deepened my commitment to my dance practice, it has become not just a personal journey but a preparation to hold space for others to embark on their own. For many years, each day, I dance alone, letting the music move me, embodying the emotions that arise, and reflecting on the life lessons and epiphanies that emerge through the rhythm. These moments of solitude have sparked a vision of dancing with others. Recently, during my solo dances, a whisper keeps surfacing in my mind: 'How can I go from dancing alone to dancing with everyone?'
This year, I am dedicating myself to answering that call. My journey begins with the soft launch of these JEMMs in my city—creating a space where we can all connect through movement. I have worked on the structure of this first particular event, the different exercises included, and I will be inquiring about venues this week. My ultimate dream is to find a city (preferably somewhere warm, near a beach, and easy access to freshly picked produce everyday) where I can share the joy of dance every morning, inviting others to start their day with creativity, connection, and vitality.

Dance is more than movement—it's a bridge to connection, healing, and transformation. I invite you to join me on this journey, whether in your own space or at one of these gatherings. Together, let’s move, create, and rediscover the joy of simply being alive!!
One love always <3
