A Women’s Day Reflection

There are moments in a woman’s life when she questions everything—her worth, her path, and whether she’s truly going anywhere at all. I know this feeling intimately. Last year, when Pan passed away, I was drowning in grief. It wasn’t just the loss of my beloved cat; it was the weight of dreams that felt like they were slipping away. The dream of motherhood. The dream of being where I thought I’d be by now. The expectations that society places on us—and the ones we place on ourselves.
As women, we carry so much—sometimes silently. We’re expected to be strong but not too strong, successful but not too ambitious, nurturing but not too needy. If we don’t fit the mold, there’s this lingering sense of failure, as if we’re falling short in a game we never agreed to play.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: we are not stuck. We are rising.
The other day, I caught a random episode of Modern Family—and unexpectedly, it hit home. In the scene, Haley goes to a job interview only to be brushed off by a dismissive receptionist. Instead of fighting back, she smiles, walks away, and then sits in her car... and starts to cry. In that moment, she feels like a failure. Like she’s going nowhere. But as she repeats the words, “I’m not going anywhere,” at first in despair, then in defiance, something shifts. She remembers who she is. She storms back inside and demands her interview, charms the owner of the agency, showcases her strengths, and triumphantly she lands the job.
How many of us have had a moment like this? A moment where we feel like giving up—only to realize that we are so much stronger than we think?
This Women’s Day, I want to dedicate this post to all the women battling their own silent struggles. To the ones who feel like they’re not where they should be. To the ones who have questioned their worth, their path, their purpose.
The Sun rises every single day—no matter how dark the night before. No matter how many storms it has faced, it never stops showing up. Even when clouds cover it, the Sun is still there, burning bright behind the veil, waiting for the right moment to shine through.
Just like us.
So if you’re in your car crying, feeling like you’re going nowhere—remember this: You are not stuck. You are rising. The beauty and magic of women lie in our ability to absorb the pain around us and transform it into something greater—something radiant. Like an oyster embracing an irritant, we nurture our struggles, and in that process, we create something precious—a pearl.
Wipe those tears. Take a deep breath. And walk back into life with your own special spark of light.

The world is much brighter when you do! ☀️
